Established to bring oncology services closer to communities and reduce travel burden for patients and families.

Our Journey & Mission

The Garissa Regional Cancer Centre was established with support from the National Government through the Ministry of Health, starting operations on 27th September 2022 and officially launched on 4th February 2023.

Our mission is to strengthen decentralized cancer care by providing comprehensive services in Northern Kenya, improving access, and supporting patients through diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.

Prior to the centre’s establishment, chemotherapy services began in February 2019, laying a foundation for specialized cancer services in the region.

Today, GRCC serves as a regional hub, receiving patients from multiple counties and welcoming referrals from neighboring regions, including cross-border care inquiries where appropriate.

Yes. GRCC encourages patient-and-family education, counselling, and discharge planning, especially for patients traveling from other counties.
